1、 Characteristics At working temperature, it is a colorless and odorless gas, characterized by cleanliness, lack of conductivity, and high fire extinguishing efficiency; IG541 fire extinguishing agent is composed of nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide, with a ratio of approximately 52% nitrogen (N ₂), 40% argon (Ar), and 8% carbon dioxide (CO ₂).

1、 Characteristics
At working temperature, it is a colorless and odorless gas, characterized by cleanliness, lack of conductivity, and high fire extinguishing efficiency;

2、 Fire extinguishing mechanism and scope of application

  1. Fire extinguishing mechanism.
    The IG541 fire extinguishing mechanism is suffocating and has a fast extinguishing speed. After spraying with IG541, the oxygen concentration in the protected area decreased, and the combustibles were unable to obtain sufficient oxygen.

    1) Electrical fire
    2) Gas fires that can be cut off from the gas source before extinguishing
    3) Liquid fire
    4) Solid surface fire
  3. Not applicable scope
    1) Fire caused by oxidants such as nitrocellulose, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrate, or chemicals containing oxidants;
    2) Fire of active metals such as potassium, magnesium, sodium, and magnesium;
    3) Fire caused by metal hydrides such as potassium hydride and sodium hydride;
    4) Fire caused by self decomposing chemical substances such as hydrogen peroxide and hydrazine;
    5) Deep fire of combustible solid substances.
    3、 Design parameters
  1. Spray time
    When IG541 mixed gas fire extinguishing agent is sprayed to 95% of the design dosage, the spraying time should not exceed 60 seconds and should not be less than 48 seconds.
  2. Design concentration
    1) The fire extinguishing design concentration of IG541 mixed gas fire extinguishing system shall not be less than 1.3 times, and the inerting design concentration shall not be less than 1.1 times the inerting concentration;
    2) The extinguishing concentration for solid surface fires is 28.1%. If not listed in the specifications, it should be determined through testing. The percentage of flame 28.1 not listed in the specifications should be determined through testing.
  3. Fire extinguishing immersion time
    1) Solid surfaces such as wood, paper, and fabric should be exposed to fire for 20 minutes;
    2) Electrical equipment fire in the electronic computer room should take 10 minutes;
    3) Other solid surface fires should be carried out within 10 minutes.
  4. Storage and filling capacity
    The filling capacity of storage containers should comply with the following regulations:
    1) The first level pressure should be applied to the (15.0MPa) system, and the filling amount should be 211.15kg/m3;
    2) The filling capacity of the secondary pressurization system should be 281.06kg/m3.
  5. Security
    The non-toxic reaction concentration of IG541 is 43%, and the toxic reaction concentration is 52%. The design concentration for IG541 fire extinguishing is generally 37% -43%. Therefore, within the design concentration range, brief stays of personnel will not cause physiological effects.
    4、 System component requirements
  6. Storage device
    1) The storage device of the pipeline system should consist of storage containers, container valves, and collection pipes; The storage device for heptafluoropropane and IG541 prefabricated fire extinguishing systems should consist of storage containers and container valves;
    2) The arrangement of storage devices should be easy to operate, maintain, and avoid exposure to sunlight. The distance between the operating surface and the wall or two operating surfaces should not be less than 1.0m, nor should it be less than 1.5 times the outer diameter of the storage container;

3) The working pressure that the storage container and other components of the storage device can withstand under low nominal working pressure and ambient temperature;
4) Safety relief devices and pressure gauges should be installed on storage containers or container valves. The manifold of the combined distribution system should be equipped with a safety relief device. The operating pressure of the safety relief device should comply with the design regulations of the corresponding gas fire extinguishing system.

  1. Select valve
    1) Each protected area of the combined distribution system should be equipped with a selector valve to control the flow of fire extinguishing agents, with a nominal diameter equal to the nominal diameter of the main pipeline of the fire extinguishing system in the protected area;
    2) The selected valve should be located near the storage container for easy operation. The selected valve should have a permanent nameplate indicating its working protection zone.
  2. Nozzle
    The arrangement of nozzles should meet the requirement of uniform distribution of gas fire extinguishing agents within the protected area after spraying. When the protected object is a flammable liquid, the jet direction of the nozzle should not face the surface of the liquid.
  3. Pipelines and accessories.
    1) The pipeline for transporting gas fire extinguishing agents should use seamless steel pipes. Seamless steel pipes should undergo anti-corrosion treatment both inside and outside, and the anti-corrosion treatment should comply with environmental protection requirements;
    2) The pipeline for transporting gas fire extinguishing agents should be installed in corrosive environments and use stainless steel pipes;
    3) The pipeline for transporting starting gas should use copper pipes;
    4) When the nominal diameter of pipeline connection is less than or equal to 80mm, threaded connection should be used; When it exceeds 80mm, flange connection should be used. The steel pipe accessories should be anti-corrosion both inside and outside, and the anti-corrosion treatment should meet environmental protection requirements. When used in corrosive environments, stainless steel pipe fittings should be used.
